Counselling can help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself, increasing your self esteem and confidence, thus allowing you to live the life you want. As your therapist, I will facilitate a process that will support you in trusting yourself and help you find your own solutions.
We will look at how set patterns may be affecting your choices and relationships. The melting ice cube represents a 3 stage process of dissolution from solid, liquid to gas, that creates awareness around how you make sense of the world.
I offer a caring, safe and confidential space both indoors and outdoors for supportive self exploration.
“The curious paradox is that, when I accept myself as I am, then I can change.” Carl Rogers
the process of becoming
solid
first steps
Life is about conditioning and coping. Your world at this stage may appear opaque and lack clarity. Your reality is made up of constructs and defences that protect you. However, these may not be serving you well. With your direction, we begin our collaboration by exploring any concerns you have.
liquid
the middle stages
After establishing a relationship we will see a loosening of personal constructs. Things will become clearer as we begin to make links. Insight and perspective will give new meaning to your reality.
gas
endings
Clouds are a a mixture of solid, liquid and gas. A metaphor for self awareness. Now you will feel a greater freedom than before. We can implement certain techniques to help maintain and enhance your newfound positive outlook on life - in pursuit of what happiness
means to you.
bio
I graduated from Roehampton University with a Masters in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy. I have a background working in The Arts, with Animals and the Outdoors.
I work relationally from a Person Centred framework and can integrate Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy at different stages, which means I use complimentary theories to support our work together and believe the relationship is most important. Our work is always collaborative.
I am trained as an Equine Assisted Therapist and Coach and have an interest in Ecotherapy. I have conducted research in climbing and discovered its multifarious effects on wellbeing.
My experience includes working with young adults and adults on a short and long term basis, experiencing those suffering from work related stresses, relationship difficulties, bereavement, eating disorders, trauma, substance abuse, anxiety and depression.
I have also worked as a school and college counsellor, counselling children and teenagers struggling with issues ranging from bullying, parent separation,
sexuality, identity, neurodiversity, self harm and exam stress. I have completed safeguarding and child protection training and have a current DBS.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and abide by their code of ethics. I am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office and follow GDPR legislation.
